John Galt is not real

For those previously unaware, Atlas Shrugged is a work of fiction! Its political views carry the same credibility as those of the Communist Manifesto. The arguments put forth in both texts are ones of ideology, not reason. I don't know how much more I can emphasize this, John Galt is NOT a real person.

Alan Greenspan on the other hand, is a real person. And he was so fond of Rand that he was a member of a small group of 'objectivists' who met in Rand's New York apartment to discuss philosophy every week. If John Galt was a real person, he would have been Alan Greenspan. And John Galt has wrecked havoc upon capitalism. Low interest rates and laissez-faire policy have undermined the economic stability upon which an affluent society depends. John Galt and the ideas he stands for have been thoroughly discredited. The point is mute. I do not want to hear anymore about John Galt.

For the record: It is however a great read. I am the proud owner of a 1st edition hardcover of Atlas Shrugged. On my bookshelf is sits next to Das Kapital in the "books people should not take too seriously" section.
